A Message from Principal Garcia

gerald garcia

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Legion Park Elementary School Staff, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to you as we begin the 2011-2012 school year at Legion. My name is Gerald Garcia; I am the new principal at your child’s school. I am going into my 19th year of education and I am a 2001 graduate from the University of New Mexico with my Masters in Educational Leadership Administration.

August is the time of year to reconnect with old friends and welcome new ones. We at Legion Park Elementary School are very pleased to welcome everyone to the 2011-2012 school year! The first day of school is August 18, 2011. To those students and parents who are new to Legion Park Elementary School, we extend that warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive school year. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school through your child’s classroom program.

As I begin my year as principal of Legion Park Elementary School, I will continue to work diligently with school faculty and parents to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, communication and recognition of both student and staff achievement. I am committed to working in collaboration with you to continue to develop and implement this shared vision.

Take some time and review the Las Vegas City Schools standard of dress policy for students and observe the school supply list for Legion Park Elementary.

There is much work to be done in curriculum development, so I have started reviewing and analyzing test scores from this past years SBA, DIBELS and MAP scores and continue to improve on this effort.

My leadership style is one of visibility, accessibility, and an approachable presence in our learning community. Please feel free to contact or visit with me (505) 454-5760, my door is always open! I look forward to meet everyone the first day of school.

Sincerely,

Gerald Garcia
Principal
